"At least Clinton's lies didn't get anyone killed"

heh. I was reading up on blogs and found that out there.
One of the guys I was engaged to last year was killed in Iraq.
I didn't go to his funeral... I guess I should have, but I'm not the greatest at funerals. I'm somewhat... unattached... when it comes to death. Impartial, rather. Just I see it all the time and in reality we're all gonna wind up dead at some point, and I have my faith with me always, so it's just not really a big deal to me. More like "see you on the other side."
Needless to say the guy's mom wasn't too happy with me.
We had another death up here tonight. It's a CCU, it happens, ya know? I mean, each time it's different, and I understand the person's family will miss him or her, but we're all gonna do it at some point. I'm of the impression at least the suffering's over.
Even if you're not sick, though... the world we live in is ~not~ exactly a paradise. With all the people living in poverty, not just in the US but worldwide; kids getting abused by the same people that should be protecting them; prejudism is apparently still alive and ugly in this nation of ours that claims to hold dear the idea that "all men are created equal" but in the same breath will demean someone based on the color of his or her skin or sexual orientation or the social or economic class that person finds themself in; infants born with an addiction to some drug that will at some point kill the woman who gave birth and possibly the child too... It's not exactly paradise, is it?
Makes me think twice before really wanting to bring children of my own into this world.

Now where did all that come from?
